  • Only 40% of orphaned children complete secondary school in many low-income countries
  • 258 million widows worldwide; nearly half live in poverty (UN Women, 2021)
  • In parts of Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, widows are frequently dispossessed of land and property rights
  • Fewer than 1 in 5 widows globally have access to pension or social security schemes
  • COVID-19 left over 10.5 million children newly orphaned or bereaved globally (The Lancet, 2023)

    Tailoring, food vending, and other home-based trades.
